Travel Tips

Here are some general travel recommendations to help you have a good time:

1. Make arrangements and book ahead to get better deals.
• Before you travel, learn about the culture, transportation, and sites of the destination.

2. Pack smartly and light. Take only what you need and outfits that can be worn in multiple ways. You will not have to carry large bags, saving you time and energy. Dress in layers to handle all weather conditions.
• Remember to pack power banks and chargers to keep your electronics charged when traveling. Also, if you are traveling to another country, you will need converters or adapters.

3. Ensure that your vital papers are safe. Copy your passport, ID, and trip insurance and keep the copies separate from the originals.
• For valuables, consider using a money belt or a concealed pouch.

4. Money is important.
• Inform your bank about your vacation ahead of time so that your cards are not suspended.
• Bring cash and credit cards with you. Not all locations accept credit cards, and in some cases, small sums of cash are preferred.

5. Take care of your health: drink enough of water, especially if you're flying or traveling somewhere hot. Check if the water is safe to drink; if not, stick to bottled water.
• Bring any medications you may require and understand what kind of medical treatment are available in the area.
• Consider purchasing travel insurance in case you fall sick while you're away.

6. Utilize technology: • Use offline maps (e.g., Google Maps offline or Maps.me) to navigate when internet access is limited.
• Use Google Translate and TripIt to navigate foreign languages. • Avoid roaming fees by purchasing a trip phone plan or SIM card from the destination country.

7. Show respect for different cultures. Learn some basic words and sentences in the language. A simple "hello" or "thank you" can go a long way. Check the tipping customs.

8. Consume locally farmed food. • Avoid street food and unprotected water to prevent stomach issues.
When visiting a nation with a distinct culture, take advantage of the opportunity to sample new foods.

9. Change the time zone.
• To avoid too much jet lag, alter your bedtime a few days before you depart.
Keep active during the day and get plenty of sunlight to help your body adjust to the new time zone.
