Imagine a warm igloo without having to travel to Greenland or Alaska. Enjoy a hot cup of chocolate while watching people skate in the winter village at Bryant Park in New York City. From October until early January, Bryant Park hosts a Winter Village complete with ice skating, seasonal gift shopping,  food and sweets.

If you are a dog lover or simply want to experience being on a dog-driven sled without having to pay for expensive airfares to Alaska, visit Lake Placid in Upstate New York. Mirror Lake, located in the heart of Lake Placid Village, is a popular recreational destination. During the summer, canoeing, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboarding are popular activities. In the winter, you can go dog sledding on the lake or ice skating on a maintained track around the lake's perimeter.
